Karl Grindal is a Senior Analyst at Delta Risk, LLC, working in the Washington, DC office. His work and research experience is concentrated on analytics, innovation and education policy, Internet governance, and international security.
Within Delta Risk, Karl provides strategic, policy, and research services for private sector and government clients. Karl leads Delta Risk’s new Geocyber Risk initiative, which seeks to bring analytic rigor to our understanding of differing national cyber environments. Karl also currently contributes his consulting services to the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Education and Awareness office, where he assists in managing the Federal Virtual Training Environment (FedVTE), a platform that provides free cyber education training to over 40,000 federal workers each month. Karl previously worked with the Department of Defense’s Chief Information Office on innovation policy and for the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy on international engagement strategies.
Concurrent with his work at Delta Risk, Karl serves as the Interim Executive Director of the Cyber Conflict Studies Association (CCSA).Karl began work with CCSA in 2011 as a contributor to the publication Addressing Cyber Instability and was the Associate Editor of the critically acclaimed history book A Fierce Domain: Conflict in Cyberspace 1986 to 2012, released in June of 2013.
Karl holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Government with a Certificate in International Relations from Wesleyan University and a Master of Public Policy with a concentration in Technology Policy from Georgetown University.
