Prasanto K Roy
Prasanto K Roy, a tech journalist for over two decades, writes and speaks on tech, digital and green issues, for NDTV, BBC, and others. He is head of media services for Trivone Digital Services. He was president and chief editor at CyberMedia for over ten years.
At CyberMedia, where he held various leadership positions across 23 years, he created and drove pioneering projects such as the first cover-mounted CD-ROM, and the first publication-run product test lab and processes, and the annual PCQ Linux distribution, all three being firsts in Asia.
His house, Green One, is India’s first TERI GRIHA green home, awarded a five-star rating in January 2014. Roy is a physics major from St Stephen’s College, and schooled at St Xavier’s School, Delhi.
He has written for many publications, sites and wire services such as IANS, BBC News, Al-Jazeera, CyberMedia, HT, TOI, Mint, ET, BS, etc. He’s been part of many tech and other juries, including the NDTV Gadget Guru Awards Jury for five years now, the Manthan Awards 2013 jury, NASSCOM juries, government (department of IT) juries, and many CyberMedia tech juries.
Roy has been part of numerous other speaker panels for CyberMedia, Nasscom, FICCI, CSI, MAIT, TiE, ISA et al; on television programs as a tech expert for NDTV, CNBC-TV18, CNN-IBN, BBC, et al; has lectured on tech and related areas at DU, ISB, NLU, St Stephen’s, XIMS, etc; and has spoken on media issues in global conferences such as at the IPADE business school in Mexico, and the APC media conference in Vietnam.
