Supriya Rao, Legal Adviser, International Committee of the Red Cross
Supriya Rao has an undergraduate degree from Berkeley and a law degree from the George Washington University. She has been extensively involved in researching legal and policy issues in the area of humanitarian and human rights law through working at the ICRC and the International Labour Organization.
While at the ICRC, she has been instrumental in developing the ICRC Model Legislative Provisions on the Recruitment or Use or Children in Armed Conflict. Prior to this, she was actively involved in an ILO project to combat child domestic labour and authored an ILO publication on legal and policy responses to child labour in the domestic sector across South Asia entitled Reaching Behind Closed Doors (ILO 2007).
