Rakesh Maheshwari is Sr. Director working in MeitY and presently designated as Group Co-ordinator Cyber Laws and UIDAI. As Cyber Laws Head, responsible for administration of IT Act 2000 from MeitY perspective.  He is also a member Secretary for the recently constituted  Expert Committee for Data Protection Laws in India.

Overall service of >30 years in Government, majority of which had been in STQC directorate in various capacities :

Lead Trainer for IRCA,UK approved ISMS Lead Auditor Trainings.

Information Security management System (ISMS) Lead Auditor under STQC’s ISMS Certification Scheme for ISO 27001 Certification.

Experience of working in IT Security area since last twelve years.

ISMS assessment experience of more than 250 days in ISO 27001 assessments in organizations engaged in Software development, BPO/KPO and Engineering companies and covering Private, Semi Govt and Govt organizations Carried out Information Security Second Party Audits for M&S, UK.

Chief Designer of ISMS LA Program, Chief Designer of ISO 27001 implementation program (STQC-CISP)

Have conducted Trainings on ISMS LA, ISMS implementation, ISMS awareness for Sr. management, Developing Security Policies, Network Security management. Experience of more than 500 days of Trainings in this area. Conducted Trainings all over in India and abroad in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Mauritius.

An Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate by Qualification, he has around 29 years of experience including  in Quality assurance, Software process improvement, Information security,  Certification and Training. He has been trained at Carnegie Melon University (Software Engineering Institute and at Cylab, CMU USA), BSI (UK) and Netherland on Information Security issues.

Rakesh Maheshwari has been involved in various e-Goverenance projects including in Passport Sewa project, UIDAI, Jeevan and State Data Centres. Responsible for e-Governance Conformity Assessment Project implementation in STQC.

Wthin Cyber laws functions,He is involved in handling representing MeitY in various court matters of general interest including curbing of Pornograpghy, Chinld sexual abuse material, blue whale and various matters related to IPR violations and other cyber crimes and contraventions happening on the Internet.
