Peter Kimpian, Data Protection Unit, Council of Europe
Peter Kimpian is working at the Data Protection Unit of the Council of Europe and is in charge with law enforcement related privacy matters, privacy in internet governance processes and advising on the implementation of Global data protection Convention 108+. He has been recently involved in capacity building programs in African countries aiming at delivering robust privacy bills for partner countries. Working as international privacy and data protection expert for the last 7 years Peter has been previously a member of subgroups of Article 29 Working Party, of JSB Europol, CSG Schengen and other alike organisations. Being in charge at a national data protection authority mainly with international privacy and data protection issues related to cooperation in law enforcement sector and national security he has been involved as data protection expert in topics like EU PNR Agreements with third states, EU PNR Directive, EU-US TFTP Agreement, EU regulation on drones and the EU-US Privacy Shield agreement.
